Damaging Tornadoes Round out the Month

A round of severe weather this week courtesy of winter storm Petros has left eight dead and considerable property damage in the South and mid-Atlantic states.  As of today the National Weather Service has confirmed 54 tornadoes, however that number may rise as additional damage surveys are completed.

It all started off on Tuesday morning, with reports of multiple tornadoes across Texas and Louisiana. By the afternoon several other Southern states had confirmed a  tornado outbreaks as well. On Wednesday the system went on to spawn twisters in the Carolinas, Virginia and Pennsylvania.

While damages are still being assessed, widespread destruction is evident and extensive clean-up plans are underway.
