First Named Storm of the Atlantic Hurricane Season?

By May 24, 2018February 3rd, 2020No Comments

We’ve not yet entered hurricane season officially, but we’ve got our first “invest” of the year with 90L. An invest is used by the National Hurricane Center to identify features they are monitoring for potential future development into a tropical depression or a tropical storm.

The National Hurricane Center gives this system a 90% of reaching tropical storm status in the next five days, in which case it would be named Alberto. Forecast models call for 90L to reach the central US Gulf Coast sometime between late Sunday and late Monday as a moderately strong storm. Flooding is possible along the central and eastern US Gulf Coast and parts of the Southeast this weekend and into mid next week.

We will be watching this system closely and encourage adjusters to do the same! Keep a close eye on your email and cell phone for updates in the coming days.
